Novo Nordisk Philippines launches #BeatObesityWithMe campaign

Novo Nordisk Philippines launched new #BeatObesityWithMe campaign in celebration of World obesity day with a special edition of its Kalingang Novo Nordisk webinar in partnership with among others, The Royal Danish Embassy in Manila and the Philippine Association for the Study of Overweight & Obesity (PASOO) and Nutritionist-Dietitians’ Association of the Philippines (NDAP).

The special edition was held to the general public and doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and nutritionist-dietitians joined and shared their knowledge and insights about obesity which is affecting 1 in every 3 Filipinos.
Zenaida Velasco, President of NDAP reminded the public that obesity is a public health concern and an important issue that requires the attention and involvement of the community as a whole.

Philippine Society of Hospital Pharmacists (PSHP), Philippine Pharmacists Association (PPhA), Association of Nursing Services Administrators of the Philippines (ANSAP) were also part of Novo Nordisk’s Partnership and the speakers discussed various topics including defining what obesity is, the dangers of its comorbid conditions, and their respective roles in helping provide proper education, assessment, counsel and treatment for people afflicted with obesity.

In connection with the extensive learning provided by the speakers, Novo Nordisk Philippines also introduced the #BeatObesityWithMe movement which is a call to action, compassion, and cooperation for local communities to band together and form a vital support system in the battle against obesity. Additionally, The Body of Truth is a Facebook page dedicated to health and wellness that also will serve as the venue for all challenges to come in the future.
