Novo Thailand and Ramathibodi Hospital have signed a clinical research agreement to expand cooperation on obesity, diabetes and other non-communicable diseases.
The Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital at Mahidol University signed the memorandum of understanding with Novo Nordisk Pharma (Thailand). The ceremony took place on 30 October.
The partnership aims to give Thai patients more opportunities to participate in clinical trials. It also supports staff training, joint research projects and knowledge-sharing.
Ramathibodi dean Clinical Professor Artit Ungkanont and Novo Thailand general manager Cihan Serdar Kizilcik signed the agreement. Denmark’s Chargé d’Affaires in Thailand, John Alexandersen, witnessed the ceremony.
Building on existing research
According to an announcement published on 2 November, the agreement builds on previous clinical trials between the hospital and Novo.
The partners aim to strengthen research capacity and support the development of treatments for chronic conditions. The collaboration also covers rare diseases, according to the Danish Embassy.
Alexandersen highlighted the countries’ 405 years of relations. He described how cooperation has expanded from trade into research, innovation and healthcare.
The announcement does not specify individual trials, recruitment dates or the agreement’s financial value.
Wider Danish healthcare cooperation
The partnership follows a separate agreement between Novo Nordisk Thailand and Thailand’s Health Systems Research Institute in May 2025.

The Ramathibodi agreement adds a hospital-level partnership to Novo’s wider clinical research cooperation in Thailand.
