Danish drugmaker Novo Nordisk has introduced a higher-dose version of semaglutide in Thailand, giving adults with type 2 diabetes an additional treatment option.
The company announced the introduction in a press release published on 7 October. More than 500 healthcare professionals attended its launch event to discuss diabetes care and the higher-dose treatment.
Looking beyond blood sugar
Novo Nordisk Thailand general manager Cihan Serdar Kizilcik said diabetes places a heavy burden on Thai families and the healthcare system. In the statement, he encouraged patients to discuss heart and kidney health with their doctors alongside blood sugar control.
The company said the introduction expands treatment options for Thai doctors and patients. However, its announcement did not specify the brand name or exact dose.
Novo Nordisk has worked with Thailand’s diabetes community for more than 40 years, according to the statement.
