Bangkok has joined forces with Denmark to promote healthier living and combat obesity through a new initiative titled “Bangkok, City for Better Health.”
The programme follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), the Royal Danish Embassy, and Novo Nordisk. It focuses on three key areas: childhood education, healthy meals, and public recreation.
The BMA will introduce a childhood obesity curriculum in city schools and create new recreational spaces in Lumphini and Benchakitti parks, inspired by Copenhagen’s SPOR10 model. It will also promote nutritious school lunches to support children’s growth and reduce obesity risks.
“Today, we take a monumental step forward in prioritising the health of the people of Bangkok,” said Governor Chadchart Sittipunt.
Danish Ambassador Danny Annan highlighted the shared Thai–Danish vision for “healthier, more sustainable cities,” while Novo Nordisk’s Cihan Serdar Kizilcik stressed the role of public–private partnerships in advancing healthcare.
