The Philippines and Sweden have begun discussing activities to mark 80 years of diplomatic relations in 2027.
Philippine Ambassador to Sweden Patrick A. Chuasoto met Swedish Ambassador to the Philippines Anna Ferry at the Philippine Embassy in Stockholm on 27 August.
During the meeting, the two ambassadors discussed possible activities to commemorate the anniversary. No specific events or initiatives were announced.
The Philippines and Sweden formally established diplomatic relations on 17 January 1947. Sweden currently maintains an embassy in Manila, while the Philippines reopened its resident embassy in Stockholm in 2020 after an eight-year closure.
The anniversary will coincide with another diplomatic milestone in 2027, when ASEAN and the European Union mark 50 years since the establishment of their dialogue partnership in 1977.
