“In light of recent reports, I urge our embassy in Denmark to look closely into the current situation of our au pairs and make sure that their rights are protected,” Binay said.

Binay made the appeal after Fag og Arbejde (FOA), the Au Pair Network of the Danish labor union, reported that nine out of 10 au pairs in Denmark who reported abuse from their host families are Filipinos.

An au pair is a domestic assistant from a foreign country who works for, and lives as part of a host family.
