Price shock in Malaysia too: Tours up to 80 percent more expensive

Touring Malaysia is becoming significantly more expensive.

Tour bus and van rental prices have surged by up to 80 per cent due to rising diesel costs linked to the ongoing Iran war, according to Malay Mail.

The maximum daily rental price for a tour bus has jumped from RM1,205 to RM2,200, while smaller tour vans can now cost up to RM1,800, up from RM985.

Malay Mail reports, that tourism transport operators say they can no longer absorb the higher fuel costs, as diesel prices have risen sharply in recent weeks.

Tour packages also affected

The price increases are expected to impact not only group transport, but also travel packages.

According to industry estimates, tour prices could rise by 30 to 50 per cent if fuel costs remain high.

For travellers, this mainly affects organised group trips, private transport and guided tours, while independent travel using public transport is likely to be less impacted.
