“Your Majesty,
On the occasion of your proclamation as His Majesty the King of Thailand, please accept my sincere congratulations as well as my best wishes for yourself and for the people of Thailand.
Margrethe R.”

This is how H.M. Queen Margrethe of Denmark has congratulated the new King of Thailand, H.M. Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun, in a telegram.
H.M. Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun ascended the throne on 1 December 2016, and thereby, he became the King Rama X of the Chakri Dynasty. He did this following the death of his father, the very popular Bhumibol Adulyadej, who took the throne in 1946 at the age of 18 years. He died on 13 October 2016, 88 years old. King Bhumibol ruled for over 70 years, and was considered a unifying figure.
