Sabah seeks stronger cooperation with Norway

Sabah Chief Minister Hajiji Noor and Norwegian Ambassador Marianne Fosland discussed closer cooperation in renewable energy, tourism and sustainable development.

Sabah is looking to strengthen cooperation with Norway in areas including renewable energy, green economy, tourism and technology development following a meeting between Chief Minister Hajiji Noor and Norway’s Ambassador to Malaysia, Marianne Fosland.

The meeting took place at Menara Kinabalu in Kota Kinabalu on 26 May during a courtesy visit by the Norwegian ambassador and Deputy Head of Mission Knutt Granli.

According to local media, Hajiji said Sabah remains committed to sustainable development while positioning the state as an environmentally responsible investment destination. He added that Sabah welcomed strategic international partnerships that could support economic growth and innovation.

The discussions also included efforts to promote Sabah as a world-class ecotourism destination and possible tourism cooperation between Sabah and Europe.
