Swedish legaltech company Legora is opening new offices in Singapore and Tokyo as part of its expansion across the Asia-Pacific region.
The move follows the opening of the company’s Sydney office last year and comes amid growing demand for its products from legal firms and in-house legal teams across Asia.
Legora co-founder and chief executive officer Max Junestrand said the company sees strong opportunities in the region, pointing to growing merger and acquisition activity in Japan and Singapore’s role as a regional hub for arbitration and cross-border deals.
According to the company, the new Tokyo office will strengthen its position in Japan’s legal services market, while the Singapore office will support international law firms and regional legal teams operating across Asia-Pacific.
Legora said Singapore was selected due to its importance as an English common law jurisdiction and a major centre for international arbitration through the Singapore International Arbitration Centre.
The expansion comes shortly after Legora acquired Australian regulatory technology startup Graceview and extended its Series D funding round by an additional 50 million dollars, bringing the company’s valuation to 5.6 billion dollars.
