Norwegian marine geoscience company Shearwater Geoservices has secured a new 4D seismic contract offshore Sabah, Malaysia. The deal covers an ocean bottom node survey for a Shell-operated field on the west coast of the state.
The two-month project is scheduled for early 2026 and will use the vessel SW Tasman. The ship is designed to handle both node deployment and seismic source work, allowing single-vessel operations where several vessels are often needed.
Shearwater says the time-lapse 4D data will support reservoir understanding and field management for the Shell-operated asset. CEO Irene Waage Basili called the vessel’s utilisation since its 2024 launch “a strong validation” of the company’s offshore operations approach.
Headquartered in Bergen, Shearwater employs around 1,100 people and runs seismic projects worldwide. The Sabah survey adds another Southeast Asian contract to the Norwegian company’s growing portfolio in the region.
