A 59-year-old Swedish man, identified as Mr. Magnus, was injured in an assault in Jomtien, Pattaya, in the early hours of March 22.

Rescue services responded to a call around 2.49am and found Mr. Magnus outside his accommodation with swelling to his head and cuts on both knees.

He received first aid at the scene before being taken to Pattaya Memorial Hospital.

Refused invitation from transgender woman

According to a friend, Mr. Magnus had been drinking at a beer bar in the Rompho Market area before riding back to his accommodation.

On the way, he was approached by a transgender woman outside a massage shop. When he declined her invitation to continue socialising, the situation escalated.

He was reportedly hit from behind, causing him to fall from his motorcycle, and then kicked while on the ground. He later left the scene on foot and contacted a friend, who called for assistance.

The man is expected to file a police report.
