Thailand’s Electricity Generating Authority (EGAT) and Sweden are joining forces to accelerate the green energy transition through the “Pioneer the Possible Thailand 2025” initiative, launched on Monday 20 May 2025 at the EGAT 50th Anniversary Building in Nonthaburi.
The event, jointly hosted by EGAT, the Embassy of Sweden in Thailand, and the Swedish Trade & Invest Council (Business Sweden), brought together Thai and Swedish stakeholders to explore clean energy innovations and deepen cooperation in the field.
Opening remarks were delivered by EGAT Governor Mr. Thepparat Theppitak and the Swedish Ambassador to Thailand, H.E. Anna Hammargren, who highlighted the shared commitment to sustainable energy development.
According to Ambassador Hammargren, Sweden is a global frontrunner in alternative energy solutions, with companies offering cutting-edge expertise in hydrogen, solar energy, smart grid systems, and digital innovation to optimize power generation and distribution.
Mr. Thepparat emphasized that the event builds on the existing Memorandum of Understanding between EGAT and Business Sweden, with a focus on biomass and hydrogen energy collaboration. He noted the importance of shared innovation and technological exchange to lay a strong foundation for a greener energy future.
The program featured expert discussions on three central topics:
- Green fuels such as biomass and hydrogen and their role in cutting carbon emissions,
- Smart grids and the integration of renewables through advanced digital and turbine technologies,
- Digitalization of power systems to boost efficiency and sustainability in electricity generation and distribution.
“Pioneer the Possible Thailand 2025” is part of a broader effort to align Thailand’s energy transition with global climate goals, supported by Swedish technology and experience in sustainable energy solutions.
