
Tourism Authority of Thailand said Thailand’s Songkran festival is expected to have generated more than 30.35 billion baht over the five-day holiday period, underlining the massive economic impact of the country’s biggest celebration, according to The Nation.
Of that total, around 500,000 foreign tourists are estimated to have contributed about 8.1 billion baht, up 6% from the same period last year, according to

At the same time, 42 foreign embassies – including Denmark – joined efforts to promote Songkran internationally, as Thailand pushes the festival as a global attraction.
The campaign included joint promotional content highlighting Thai culture and modern celebrations.
International media including AP, Reuters and Euronews also reported on large crowds at key locations such as Khao San Road, describing Songkran as one of the world’s largest festivals.
Deputy government spokeswoman Rachada Dhnadirek said this year’s festival was held on a large scale and is recognised by UNESCO as an important cultural tradition.
