Sweden and Norway signed treaty with Thailand 18 May 1868

Thailand signed in 1868 friendship treaties with a number of nations. The Treaty of Friendship, Commerce, and Navigation between then Siam and Sweden, whose King was also the King of Norway, was signed on 18 May 1868.

Siam sent its first own ambassador to Europe 1882, who was also accredited to Sweden. Two years later Axel Johnson was appointed Siam Consul General in Stockholm. In 1885 Johnson arranged the first Swedish Industrial Exhibition in Siam.
