Sweden in the Philippines: Minister delegation and new embassy

Mikael-Damberg

In conjunction with the opening of the Swedish embassy in Manila, Minister of Enterprise and Innovation Mikael Damberg will be leading a Team Sweden delegation to the Philippines on 7 – 9 November 2016. The purpose is to promote trade and investment exchange with the Philippines; one of the fastest growing economies in Asia.

The nation has a young and vibrant population of more than 100 million and has experienced notable GDP growth over the past decade. The rapid urbanisation rate paired with a more liberal view on FDI has spurred investments into the country.

Large infrastructure investments are being planned and carried out to accommodate the nation’s development, many in form of public-private partnerships. Special focus is on solutions to support the sustainable and resilient urban development and technologies to increase connectivity of the Philippine extensive archipelago.

There is an expanding manufacturing sector that is catering both for the local and international market and a continuous growing global service sector, utilizing the large English speaking talent pool. The thriving economy and increased income levels has led to a significant demand for consumer goods and services with prospering retail stores in the larger cities.

In order to provide more insights prior the delegation Business Sweden will organize two informative seminars/meetings:
– Philippine seminar in Stockholm, 31 August 2016
– Philippines meeting in conjunction to Sweden-SEA Business Summit in Singapore, 20 – 21 September 2016

During the Sweden-SEA Business Summit in Singapore, Business Sweden will arrange an information meeting regarding the high level delegation to the Philippines in November. If you are interested to attend, please send an email to: [email protected]
