Swedish Ambassador to Thailand Anna Hammargren met with Thailand’s National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) on 4 November 2026 to discuss anti-corruption efforts and the country’s bid to join the OECD.
Hammargren held talks with NACC Secretary-General Nitiphan Prajuabmoh about transparency, good governance and opportunities for closer cooperation between Sweden and Thailand.
The discussions included exchanging experiences and strengthening anti-corruption measures in both countries.
Hammargren welcomed Thailand’s efforts to align its anti-bribery practices with OECD standards. She also reaffirmed Sweden’s support for Thailand’s accession process.
Nordic conference to address transparency and competitiveness
During the meeting, Hammargren invited NACC representatives to an upcoming Thai-Nordic conference on 25 November 2026.
The event, titled Transparency and Competitiveness: Thai-Nordic Dialogue on Good Governance as a Growth Engine Towards OECD Membership, will bring together representatives from different sectors.
Participants will discuss how transparency, integrity and good governance can strengthen competitiveness and support sustainable economic growth.
The conference will also provide an opportunity to exchange Nordic and Thai experiences with anti-corruption policies.
Thailand is currently working towards OECD membership, a process that includes reviewing its policies and practices against international standards.
The NACC plays a role in this process through its work on anti-bribery measures and public-sector integrity.
The meeting highlighted Sweden’s continued support for Thailand’s OECD ambitions, although no new formal agreement was announced.
