The Swedish defence company Saab drew crowds at the Defense & Security 2025 exhibition in Bangkok with its full-scale mockup of the Gripen E fighter jet.
The biennial event, organised by Thailand’s Ministry of Defence, opened on 10 November at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani and features more than 600 defence manufacturers from 38 countries.
Saab’s Gripen E display – equipped with Meteor and GBU missiles – was among the main attractions. Visitors could sit in the cockpit for photos, while the model on show represents the same aircraft that the Royal Thai Air Force is acquiring to replace its ageing F-16 fleet.
The first phase of Thailand’s Gripen programme includes four E/F aircraft worth 19.5 billion baht, with an offset policy aimed at boosting local defence industry cooperation.
