A 39-year-old Swedish man has been arrested in Pattaya in connection with a series of fraud cases stretching over more than three years, according to Thai immigration authorities.

The man, identified only as Ludde, was apprehended by officers from Thailand’s Immigration Bureau 3 at a condominium in the coastal city on the basis of a European Arrest Warrant and a separate warrant issued by the Stockholm District Court earlier this month.

According to police, Ludde allegedly used forged documents and fake driver’s licences to pose as a company representative, defrauding multiple businesses across Europe. Authorities say his actions led to financial damages exceeding 1 million Swedish kronor—equivalent to around 3.5 million baht.

The offences reportedly occurred between September 2021 and April 2025. In addition to the 11 fraud cases initially filed, two further cases have since been linked to the suspect, with potential damages estimated at over 300,000 kronor.

Lieutenant General Chairit Anurit, Commander of Immigration Bureau 3, said the arrest was part of a broader effort to combat transnational crime involving foreign nationals operating from within Thailand.

“This operation follows instructions from the National Police Chief to address foreign criminals operating within Thailand, ensuring they do not compromise the country’s security,” he said.

Ludde is now in custody while Thai authorities coordinate with Swedish officials regarding his extradition.
