On 29 January 2025, Thai and Finnish officials met to strengthen labor protections and diplomatic cooperation. Mrs. Krongkanit Rakcharoen, Director-General of Thailand’s Department of European Affairs, welcomed Mr. Jussi Tanner, Finland’s Director-General of Consular Services, along with Finnish Ambassador H.E. Kristiina Kuvaja-Xanthopoulos.

The discussions focused on improving conditions for Thai seasonal workers in Finland, particularly berry pickers, emphasizing safety, well-being, and human trafficking prevention. Thailand also sought Finland’s support for a Schengen visa exemption for Thai passport holders to enhance people-to-people connections between the two nations.
