New Vestas orders in Vietnam will see the Danish wind turbine maker supply 16 turbines for two wind farms in the country’s central region.

The orders cover V163 turbines from its 4 MW platform and include 20-year service and maintenance agreements. Vestas has not disclosed the customer or project names.

Vestas orders in Vietnam include larger rotors

The turbines will have rotor diameters of 163 metres, the largest Vestas has announced for deployment in Vietnam. Their towers will place the rotor hubs 155 metres above ground.

Vestas expects component deliveries to begin in 2027, followed by commissioning.

Projects under national energy plan

Both wind farms fall under Vietnam’s eighth national power development plan, known as PDP8.

According to Vestas, they are among the first projects under the plan to secure investment licences and move towards construction. The company already has 1.6 gigawatts of installed capacity in Vietnam.
