A woman in her 30s was arrested at Oslo’s Gardermoen Airport after authorities found 41.7 kilograms of cannabis in her luggage. She claimed the bags were given to her by someone in Thailand, insisting she was unaware of their contents.
The woman, who had arrived on a flight from Bangkok, entered the “nothing to declare” customs channel but was stopped due to suspicious behavior. A search revealed the large quantity of cannabis, leading to her immediate arrest.
Police are investigating her possible ties to an international drug trafficking network. She has been detained for four weeks under strict conditions, barring visits or communication with others.
Norwegian drug laws impose harsh penalties, with up to 10 years or more in prison for smuggling linked to organized crime. The case has also sparked questions about security checks at Thailand’s airport, where cannabis exports remain illegal despite its domestic decriminalization.
