The Royal Danish Embassy in Bangkok hosted the official opening of this year’s European Heritage Days on 3 September 2025, marking the start of the cultural initiative Krung Thep Creative Streets.

As the current holder of the EU Presidency, the Danish Embassy welcomed diplomats, artists and cultural leaders to the residence. Opening remarks were delivered by H.E. Danny Annan, Ambassador of Denmark to Thailand, H.E. Jean-Claude Poimboeuf, Ambassador of France to Thailand and Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt. They were all highlighting the importance of cultural collaboration between Thailand and Europe.

The central programme, Krung Thep Creative Streets, will take place from 15–21 September. More than 14 Thai and European artists, including Danish and Norwegian participants, will create large-scale murals across neighbourhoods such as Charoen Krung, Talat Noi, South Sathorn, Surawong and Lumphini. Visitors will be able to watch the works take shape, transforming Bangkok into an open-air museum.

In addition, guided tours on 20–21 September will give the public access to more than 25 heritage buildings, including the historic French Residence on the banks of the Chao Phraya River. Many of these sites are rarely accessible to the public.

The programme also features a conference on street art and heritage at TCDC on 18 September, a panel discussion and screening at Alliance Française on 19 September, and a closing party at The Warehouse and The Clutch BKK on 20 September.

Organized by the French Embassy in collaboration with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, the Creative Economy Agency, the EU Delegation and European partners – including the Royal Danish Embassy and the Royal Norwegian Embassy – the initiative aims to celebrate Bangkok’s cultural heritage and contemporary creativity.
