Immigration authorities in Banda Aceh, Indonesia, have detained a Danish citizen for overstaying their visa by 56 days. The man, only known by his initials VRP, was arrested at a hotel in Peunayong after a citizen report.

Immigration chief Gindo Ginting said VRP arrived on September 22, 2024, with a Visa On Arrival that expired on October 21, 2024. VRP did not extend the visa and refused to pay the fine for the violation.

“We do not tolerate immigration violations and encourage citizens to report suspicious activity to help maintain law and order,” said Immigration chief Gindo Ginting.

The Danish citizen is now in custody and under investigation. Authorities say this action is part of their effort to protect the country’s security and sovereignty.
