The Danish Seamen’s Church in Singapore is preparing for two major celebrations this year – its 40th anniversary on 13 September 2025 and the beloved annual Christmas bazaar on 29–30 November. But with several committee members having recently left Singapore, the church is now reaching out to the local Danish community for extra hands and fresh ideas.
“We are very few left in the activity and Christmas bazaar committee, so we are calling for volunteers to help us make these events a success,” the church writes in a heartfelt message.
The anniversary marks four decades since the church opened its doors to Danish seafarers and expatriates in Singapore. Preparations are already underway, but more support is needed — particularly for the Christmas bazaar, which is known to be the church’s biggest and most festive event of the year.
Volunteers are needed not just during the events, but also before and after, with everything from planning and logistics to creative contributions and hands-on help.
The church is also welcoming ideas for new activities and events that can bring fresh life to the congregation throughout the year.
To join the volunteer team or learn more, the committee invites interested members to get in touch via email at [email protected].
“Together we can create a vibrant future for our church – for the joy of all of us,” the committee writes on Facebook.
