DCC Hong Kong holds AGM

Press release: This year the Danish Chamber of Commerce Hong Kong’s Annual General Meeting was held on the 7th of March, at the Hong Kong Bankers Club locating on the 43rd floor, in The Landmark building. The stunning view over the skyline and cosy atmosphere gave a perfect setting for the event. The meeting started sharp at 7pm with Mr. Mikael Holmgreen Jensen as the facilitator. The Chairman, Mr. Thomas Andersen gave his report for last year’s events followed by the financial report 2017 and budget 2018 by the Treasurer, Mr. Anders Schultz Thygesen. The current Committee Members and auditors was re-elected, and the General Assembly completed.

The evening continued with a presentation by Mr. Henrik Drud, Managing Director at Arla Foods Trading & Procurement Ltd. Many of the Danish participants felt they knew Arla because they grew up with the name, every day when taking out a milk carton, a yoghurt or cheese from the fridge. It was moreover exiting to hear about Arla’s ownership, its key markets, challenges and the procurement office in Hong Kong changing the company’s traditional buying channel for packaging, ingredients to machinery and spare parts. When Mr. Drud presented the expansion plan to foreign markets like China and South East Asia, many in the room almost rooted for Arla to come sooner and take a bite of the big opportunity out here. There were clearly great interests among the participants with many questions and comments along the presentation.

All participants stayed for networking while enjoying delicious canapés and wine.

The Board sends a special thanks to Handelsbanken for the venue and to Mr. Henrik Drud for the great presentation!
