If you’re a Finnish traveller heading to Phuket, getting help just got a bit easier.

Finland has officially opened a new honorary consulate on the island, aimed at improving support for Finnish citizens visiting or living there.

According to The Phuket News, the consulate was inaugurated on April 21 with Phuket Governor Nirat Pongsitthaworn attending the ceremony.

The consulate will be headed by Sornkom Kitprasan.

Honorary consulates typically assist with practical issues such as lost passports, emergencies and coordination with local authorities. They do not offer full embassy services.

The new consulate is expected to make it easier for Finnish visitors to access help locally instead of going through Bangkok.
