New survey will investigate how Danes abroad can promote Denmark

A new Danish survey will investigate how the 250,000 Danes living abroad can contribute to promoting Denmark and attract foreign investment, tourists and specialized labor.

Copenhagen Capacity, the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Danes Worldwide on 24 August launched a special task force to look at how Denmark can strengthen the ties to Danes abroad and benefit from their international networks. The initiative was presented by Danish Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen.

The task force has a total of 18 members, including CEO of Dansk Erhverv, Brian Mikkelsen, CEO of Landbrug & Fødevare, Karen Hækkerup with chairman of Carlsberg and Carlsberg Foundation, Flemming Besenbacher, as chairman of the new task force.

“There is a great and untapped potential for Denmark in the many Danes who live and work all over the world. In the task force, we will seek inspiration from countries such as Ireland and Australia, which have successfully created a national strategy for cooperation with their country men living and working abroad,” Flemming Besenbacher says.

The Task Force will present its recommendations in the first quarter of 2019.
