Nordic consulates in Shanghai will continue discussions on vocational education and lifelong learning until March, following their joint exhibition at WorldSkills Shanghai 2026.
In an update on 21 October, the Danish Embassy in China said several thousand people had visited the Nordic Circle pavilion. Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden jointly presented their approaches to practical skills and adapting to a changing labour market.
The initiative received support from the Nordic Council of Ministers. It brought education organisations and professionals together to exchange experiences and explore possible international cooperation.
Sharing Nordic approaches to learning
Visitors could take a virtual bicycle ride through Copenhagen using VR headsets, answer questions about the Nordic countries and watch videos from their national Skills organisations.
Official visitors included Denmark’s Ambassador to China, Michael Starbæk Christensen, Finnish Education Minister Anders Adlercreutz and Faroese education and culture minister Bárður á Lakjuni.
SkillsDenmark also participated in a Nordic panel discussion on lifelong learning. Its deputy chair, Michael Boas Pedersen, shared Danish experiences of further training and vocational education.
WorldSkills took place from 22 to 27 September. The embassy’s update did not specify dates or topics for the remaining talks.
