A 65-year-old Swedish tourist reported that a thief stole valuables worth 42,000 baht from him early Wednesday morning in Pattaya.

The tourist, Lars Reikwike, told police that around 3:30 am, a man approached him near Pattaya City 8 School and took his gold ring, valued at 40,000 baht, along with 2,000 baht in cash.

A 50-year-old taxi motorcyclist named Winai, who witnessed the incident, said the Swedish man appeared intoxicated while waiting for a taxi.

Winai described the suspect as a transsexual and mentioned that he intervened to prevent the theft. However, the suspect fled before police arrived. Winai added that the suspect was known to frequent the area.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the theft.
