
Sweden and the Philippines sign new memorandum of understanding (MOU), that aims to increase Swedish grants and export credits for projects in the Philippines, further deepening economic and strategic relations.
Swedish Minister for Infrastructure and Housing Andreas Carlson and industrialist Marcus Wallenberg visited Manila to witness the signing of an MOU. The visit emphasized Sweden’s commitment to long-term partnerships with the Philippines, focusing on sustainable development and digitalization.
Carlson emphasized Sweden’s commitment to sustainable development and digitalization, aligning with the government’s Focus Asia strategy. Wallenberg, a key figure behind Swedish companies in the Philippines, highlighted the role of Swedish firms in enhancing local industries.
The visit included meetings with Finance Secretary Ralph G. Recto, Acting Trade Secretary Ma. Cristina Roque, and discussions on trade, investment, and defense cooperation. Carlson and Wallenberg also explored opportunities in transportation, health, and digitalization, underscoring Sweden’s role as a key partner in the Philippines’ development efforts.
