
The Embassy of Sweden in Hanoi has announced an exciting new partnership between the Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) and the International Council of Swedish Industry (NIR). The two organizations officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on December 12, 2024, marking a significant step in their collaboration to promote sustainable energy development in Vietnam.
The signing ceremony took place with notable attendees from NIR, including Johan Ndisi, Sweden’s Ambassador to Vietnam, Erika Staffas, Head of Trade and Politics at the Swedish Embassy in Hanoi and Alessandra Cornale and Nguyễn Thu Hiền from the global and regional Swedish Workplace Program (SWP). Additionally, EVN’s Deputy General Director Võ Quang Lâm and Đỗ Đức Hùng, President of the Vietnam Electricity Union, were present.
Mutual respect and shared goals
During the ceremony, Deputy General Director Võ Quang Lâm emphasized the importance of the MoU as a pivotal milestone in the partnership. He remarked on the commitment to mutual respect and shared goals in promoting sustainable development within the energy sector. Lâm expressed gratitude to representatives from EVN, the Swedish Embassy, and NIR for their contributions to shaping this collaborative framework.
This new MoU focuses on areas such as human resource development, technical training, and innovative energy solutions. Both parties pledged to work together on building a Gender Equality Strategy for 2026–2030. This initiative aims to create a diverse and inclusive workplace at EVN, fostering a more sustainable energy sector that aligns with global environmental objectives.
“This partnership signifies significant progress in our efforts to implement sustainable energy initiatives,” the Embassy of Sweden in Hanoi stated. The cooperation not only strengthens the bond between EVN and NIR but also commemorates 55 years of friendship between Sweden and Vietnam.
As both parties embark on this journey, they express hope for a greener future. “Here’s to a bright, sustainable future and stronger connections,” the statement concluded.
