At the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE), Sweden is for the first time featured as a guest country of honor, Newsflare reports.
The China International Import Expo (CIIE) is a state-backed trade fair held annually in Shanghai since 2018. It focuses specifically on imports, offering foreign companies a platform to showcase products and services to Chinese buyers.
Held in Shanghai from November 5-10, this year’s CIIE is the largest ever, with more than 4,000 overseas exhibitors from 155 countries. Among six guest countries of honor, Sweden stands out as the only Nordic nation with that status.
Other guest countries of honor this year include Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, Nigeria, Georgia and Colombia.
China as a global innovation leader
The Swedish pavilion presents a mix of lifestyle elements, high-end manufacturing and green technology. Companies are using the platform to showcase advanced industrial solutions and sustainability-focused innovations to Chinese partners and buyers.
“For our Swedish companies, it’s important to meet with Chinese companies,” Emil Akander, Vice President for Asia Pacific at Business Sweden, told Newsflare.
He stressed that China is viewed as a global innovation leader and an essential partner for Swedish firms.
