Danish-founded United Plantations has reported its highest net profit in the company’s 120-year history, according to the Danish-Malaysian company’s own financial statement.

The plantation group reported a net profit of RM830 million (approximately USD 213 million) for 2025, a 15 percent increase from RM719 million the previous year, supported by strong crude palm oil yields and favourable commodity prices.

A Danish legacy in Southeast Asia

United Plantations was founded in colonial Malaya in 1906 by Danish engineer Aage Westenholz, who had previously built business interests in Siam before turning to plantation development in Malaya in the early 20th century.

Today, the group cultivates oil palm and coconuts across 62,500 hectares in Malaysia (83 percent) and Indonesia (17 percent), employing nearly 7,000 people.

United Plantations is currently headquartered in Teluk Intan, Malaysia, and remains one of the most prominent Danish-rooted corporate presences in Southeast Asia.

The company will pay shareholders RM1.25 for each share they own for the 2025 financial year, distributing a total of about RM504 million to investors
