Sweden is looking to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in railway development, including the country’s planned high-speed rail project, according to Ministry of Construction.
Sweden’s ambassador to Vietnam, Johan Ndisi, raised the interest during a meeting with Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of Construction.
The ambassador said Swedish authorities and businesses are interested in the North–South high-speed railway project, and requested further details on technology, financing and tender processes.
Vietnam has approved plans for a 1,541-kilometre high-speed rail line with a projected cost of around $67 billion.
The two sides also discussed the possibility of signing a memorandum of understanding on railway cooperation and increasing exchanges between the countries.
