The Port of Gothenburg has signed a cooperation agreement with Long An International Port in Vietnam, marking a new step in strengthening trade and logistics ties between Sweden and Vietnam. The agreement is intended to support more direct shipping routes and contribute to greener and smarter transport solutions between Europe and Southeast Asia.

The Port of Gothenburg is the largest port in Scandinavia and already maintains connections with Saigon, Vung Tau, and Hai Phong. By partnering with Long An International Port, located in the Mekong Delta region, Gothenburg aims to expand its role in linking Nordic and European markets with one of Southeast Asia’s fastest growing economies.

At the signing, Swedish Ambassador to Vietnam Johan Ndisi congratulated the Port of Gothenburg and underlined the importance of such initiatives in strengthening bilateral cooperation. He also expressed appreciation to Nguyen Hoang Thuy, Trade Counsellor at the Embassy of Vietnam in Sweden, for her role in facilitating the agreement.

According to the Embassy of Sweden in Hanoi, the partnership demonstrates the growing potential of Vietnam as a logistics hub, while also aligning with Sweden’s focus on innovation and sustainable trade practices. Both sides expressed hope that the agreement will pave the way for improved services, increased import–export flows, and further cooperation between the two countries in the years ahead.
