Sweden welcomes China’s foreign minister Saturday: Trade and security talks on the table

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will visit Sweden on Saturday, July 4, where he is set to meet both Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard and Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson.

According to the Swedish government, Wang Yi and Malmer Stenergard will hold bilateral talks, while Kristersson will also receive the Chinese foreign minister.

“It is important for Sweden that we have a functioning bilateral dialogue with an actor influential in world politics,” the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs said in a written response to ScandAsia.

The talks will cover both bilateral issues and EU priorities, including trade and security policy, the ministry said.

Wang Yi’s visit to Stockholm is part of a Nordic tour that also includes Denmark, Finland and Norway.
