Emelie Rennerfelt has taken up her new position as Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Sweden in Hanoi, beginning a new chapter in her diplomatic career in Vietnam.
Rennerfelt brings more than 20 years of experience in diplomacy, international cooperation, public administration, migration and human rights. Her previous postings have included Stockholm, Kyiv, Addis Ababa and Luanda. She has a legal background and holds a Master of Laws degree from Stockholm University.
In a message shared by the Swedish Embassy in Hanoi, Rennerfelt said she was looking forward to learning more about Vietnam and reconnecting with a country she last visited 30 years ago.
She noted the significant changes Vietnam has undergone since her previous visit, while highlighting what she described as the continued friendliness and generosity of the Vietnamese people.
Rennerfelt has also already developed an appreciation for Vietnamese coffee and said she hopes to explore the country’s coffee culture while finding ways to combine it with Sweden’s traditional fika culture.
Her arrival comes as Sweden and Vietnam continue to develop bilateral relations, including cooperation in areas such as trade, sustainability, innovation and development.
