A 35-year-old Thai–Swedish man has been arrested in central Pattaya on 14 August 2025 following a late-night anti-drugs operation that ended in a foot chase.

The operation, led by Bang Lamung District Chief Patcharapatch Sritanyanont together with district administrative officers and Pattaya City Police, targeted suspected drug networks in the city’s nightlife area. Acting on information from an informant, officers set up a sting operation beside a hotel on Pattaya Third Road to apprehend the Thai-Swedish suspect.

Police allege that the suspect was selling drugs to both local youths and foreign tourists. When undercover agents attempted a controlled purchase, the suspect reportedly became suspicious and fled on foot, throwing his mobile phone and a bag of drugs onto the roof of a nearby house in an apparent attempt to destroy evidence. He later surrendered.

A search uncovered seven ecstasy tablets on his person, while his motorcycle contained 44 methamphetamine pills, 3.59 grams of crystal methamphetamine hidden in a black tube, and two blister packs of “Happy Five” pills.

The suspect has been charged with possession of illegal drugs with intent to sell and drug use, and remains in custody at Pattaya City Police Station pending further legal proceedings.
