Singapore-based data center developer and operator DayOne will invest around 1.2 billion euros in a new hyperscale data center campus in Lahti, Finland.
The facility will be developed on a former industrial site in the Kiveriö neighborhood, with a total planned capacity of 128 megawatts. Work is set to begin in the third quarter of 2025, and the first building, providing 50 megawatts, is expected to be operational in 2027.
“The data centre to be built in Lahti is designed to handle large-scale data processing, enabling the creation of a strong digital ecosystem,” says Niko Kyynäräinen, mayor of Lahti.
“In addition to the location, cool climate, clean energy and stable conditions, Lahti’s investment environment once again proved to be a winning operational model.”
DayOne aims to use Finland’s cool climate for energy-efficient operations and will work with local utility Lahti Energy to connect the campus to the city’s power grid. The partners are also exploring ways to integrate waste heat into Lahti’s district heating system.
The company will collaborate with the city of Lahti, regional development agencies, and educational institutions, including a 2.5 million euro contribution to LUT Universities. The project is expected to create around 100 permanent skilled jobs and employ up to 1,000 construction workers.
