Thailand is stepping up efforts to attract Norwegian travellers by promoting wellness, culture and lesser-known destinations beyond the country’s traditional tourist routes, according to Pattaya Mail.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) held a trade and media event in Oslo on September 8 under the theme “Thailand Beyond the Familiar”, bringing together around 50 Norwegian tour operators, travel agents, online travel agencies, airlines and media representatives.
The event focused on converting continued Norwegian interest in Thailand into bookings for 2027, while encouraging year-round travel and longer stays.
TAT presented destinations including Nakhon Si Thammarat in southern Thailand and destinations in the Northeast, alongside wellness experiences and local food and cultural activities. The agency said it wants to expand itineraries beyond Thailand’s most established tourist destinations.
Norway remains an important European market for Thailand. The country welcomed more than 123,000 Norwegian visitors in 2025, with Norwegian tourists staying an average of 19 days and generating more than 8.8 billion baht in tourism revenue, according to TAT.
TAT plans to work with Norwegian travel-industry partners and airlines to convert interest into bookings and strengthen Thailand’s appeal throughout 2027. Thai Airways currently operates daily direct flights between Oslo and Bangkok, while Norse Atlantic Airways offers seasonal services to Bangkok and Phuket.
