Vietnam is looking to improve access to public services by learning from Nordic countries’ use of digital solutions, VnEconomy reports.
The country is currently working to streamline its administrative system and expand the use of digital technologies in government services.
At the seminar, Nordic representatives – Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden – highlighted how digital tools are used in areas such as public administration, taxation and citizen services.
Focus on user-friendly digital services
Speaking at the seminar, Norwegian Ambassador to Vietnam Hilde Solbakken pointed to the importance of making digital systems accessible to all citizens.
“Digital solutions must be user-friendly, accessible, and inclusive, designed not only for the digitally proficient, but also for citizens with limited digital literacy. We are pleased to share our experience and support Vietnam’s reform and digital transformation journey,” she said.
Danish Ambassador to Vietnam Nicolai Prytz highlighted how digital tools are used in public systems such as taxation.
“Denmark demonstrates that a transparent, equitable, and citizen-centered tax system can operate effectively, supported by the robust and flexible application of digital tools. Ensuring that these digital solutions are user-friendly is key to enabling taxpayers to comply with their obligations with ease,” he said.
The topic was discussed at a seminar in Hanoi on March 18, organised by the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics in cooperation with the Nordic embassies in Vietnam. The seminar is part ongoing cooperation between Vietnam and the Nordic countries on governance and digital development.
