Zhou Jingxing arrived in Oslo on 5 September 2026 to take up his post as China’s new ambassador to Norway.
He succeeds Hou Yue, who concluded her posting in Norway this summer after serving as ambassador since 2022.
In a written statement following his arrival, Zhou highlighted the long-standing diplomatic relationship between China and Norway. Norway was among the first Western countries to recognise the People’s Republic of China, and the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1954.
Zhou said China wants to strengthen political dialogue and high-level exchanges with Norway. He also identified trade, multilateral coordination and cultural exchanges as areas for closer cooperation.
The new ambassador said he looked forward to working with Norwegian institutions and organisations to increase mutual understanding between the two countries.
The Chinese Embassy in Norway announced his arrival on Saturday.
