Doctors from Vietnam’s Hospital 19-8 are set to receive training in Denmark under a new agreement with Aalborg University Hospital.
The two hospitals signed a memorandum of understanding in Copenhagen on 20 October during the Vietnamese state visit to Denmark.
According to Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security, Aalborg will support short- and long-term training programmes for doctors and medical specialists from Hospital 19-8. The Vietnamese hospital operates under the ministry.
Focus on cancer diagnostics
The cooperation also covers joint research and medical technology. Planned areas include molecular diagnostics for cancer screening and treatment, genome sequencing, and the use of artificial intelligence to support clinical decisions.
Danish specialists will also help Vietnamese doctors design research studies and prepare scientific papers for international publication, the ministry said.
Vietnamese President To Lam and Denmark’s King Frederik X witnessed the exchange of the agreement.
The hospital partnership was among 15 agreements listed by the Confederation of Danish Industry following the Danish-Vietnamese business forum.
ScandAsia has previously reported on growing cooperation between Denmark and Vietnam, including plans for a healthcare conference involving the Aalborg hospital.
