On 23 March 2021 the Finnish Consul General Pasi Hellman paid a courtesy visit to Hongkou District Mayor Hu Guangjie. The meeting was joined by Mika Klemettinen, Head of Shanghai Office at Business Finland, and Lukia Yang from the Finnish National Agency for Education.
With its location at the meeting point of Suzhou Creek and Huangpu River, North Bund will play an important role in Shanghai’s future development as an economic and financial center as well as an international shipping hub. The delegation introduced Finnish expertise in education and innovation, as well as our experience in areas such as connectivity, smart energy, clean air, and digital platforms, which could be utilized in the large scale urban development of North Bund.
The development of North Bund is planned to be completed within 10 years.
Other participants from Hongkou District included Mr. Zhang Wei, Deputy District Mayor; Mr. Xuan Yizhou, Director of Hongkou Government General Office; Mr. Liu Jun, Deputy Director of North Bund Development Office and Ms. Zhang Jingyun, Deputy Director at Hongkou Foreign Affairs Office.
