A technical malfunction in Copenhagen Airport’s baggage handling system left around 60 checked bags behind on a TUI flight to Phuket.

The airport said problems in its automated baggage sorting system forced staff to handle luggage manually. It warned some bags may arrive on later flights.

Some Swedish passengers reported long queues at Phuket Airport while registering missing luggage. Several travellers said they bought basic items such as clothes and toiletries.

TUI said the delayed luggage would be forwarded to Phuket as soon as possible.

On 11 January, Copenhagen Airport said baggage sorting had returned to normal and that delayed bags were being sent onward.
