Eastern Samar State University (ESSU) in the Philippines has signed a partnership with Danish-based Bixter Academy to launch a paid international internship programme.

The agreement was formalised on 27 April in Borongan City. It makes ESSU the first institution in the Visayas region to offer such a programme in cooperation with a European partner.

The initiative targets agriculture students and graduates, offering traineeship opportunities abroad. The programme aims to provide international work experience while allowing participants to earn income.

ESSU President Andres Pagatpatan signed the agreement alongside Bixter Academy CEO Nataliya Jørgensen, with support from Eastern Samar Governor Ralph Vincent Evardone.

Provincial officials said the partnership is part of broader efforts to expand global career pathways for local graduates. The programme is expected to strengthen workforce development and international exposure for students in the region.
