Finnish and Malaysian energy experts have met to discuss cooperation on the energy transition, including nuclear energy and regional power integration.
The Finland–Malaysia Energy Exchange was hosted by the Embassy of Finland in Kuala Lumpur and Malaysian energy company Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB).
The meeting brought together Finnish experts from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority of Finland (STUK), FinNuclear Association, AFRY Consulting, Aalto University and LUT University.
They met with representatives from TNB and its subsidiaries, including TNB Power Generation, Universiti Tenaga Nasional and TNB Integrated Learning Solution.
Discussions focused on how countries can work together on regional power systems, nuclear energy and the development of skilled workers for the energy transition.
The participants also discussed the importance of sharing knowledge and developing partnerships as countries move towards greener energy systems.
For Finland, the meeting provided an opportunity to showcase Finnish expertise in energy, education and the green and digital transitions.
The Embassy of Finland said the exchange was aimed at identifying opportunities for practical cooperation between Finnish and Malaysian organisations.
No specific agreements or new projects were announced in the embassy’s post.
