A high-level farewell meeting in Hanoi underscored how far Vietnam and Denmark have come, and how much further both sides intend to go together, Voice of Vietnam reports.
Party General Secretary and State President To Lam received outgoing Danish Ambassador Nicolai Prytz, praising his role in strengthening relations between the two countries.
To Lam highlighted the rapid growth of cooperation since the establishment of the Green Strategic Partnership in 2023, calling it a turning point for collaboration in green growth, energy transition and climate action.
He also welcomed rising Danish investment in Vietnam, including major projects by LEGO, Pandora and A.P. Moller-Maersk.
Ambassador Prytz said Vietnam has become one of Denmark’s key partners in the Asia-Pacific region, noting strong economic growth, reform efforts and a shared commitment to sustainable development. He confirmed that more than 150 Danish companies are now active in Vietnam.
Both sides pointed to expanding cooperation in renewable energy, offshore wind, digital transformation, healthcare and sustainable food systems.
New links such as a direct air route between Vietnam and Copenhagen and visa exemptions for Danish citizens were also highlighted as drivers of closer people-to-people exchange.
To Lam said the upcoming 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2026 offers a key opportunity to further deepen ties. He also asked Prytz to convey greetings to King Frederik X and Queen Mary of Denmark.
The meeting ended with mutual optimism that Vietnam-Denmark relations will continue to grow in a more substantive and sustainable direction.
