Vietnam’s National Assembly Vice Chairman Nguyen Khac Dinh paid a working visit to Denmark on Friday 12 and Saturday 13 September 2025, where he met with political leaders and major Danish companies to strengthen bilateral cooperation.

During talks with Danish Parliament Speaker Søren Gade, Deputy Speaker Karsten Hønge and other senior members, both sides praised the growing Vietnam–Denmark Comprehensive Partnership and the Green Strategic Partnership launched in 2023. Gade described the visit as a concrete step to deepen inter-parliamentary relations, while commending Vietnam’s commitment to carbon neutrality by 2050.

Dinh underlined that Vietnam sees Denmark as a model in green transition, digital transformation and public administration. He proposed closer parliamentary exchanges and extended an invitation from National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man for Gade to visit Vietnam, which was warmly accepted.

At a roundtable hosted by the Confederation of Danish Industry, Dinh met with executives from LEGO, Pandora, Maersk and other firms. Danish companies reaffirmed their long-term interest in Vietnam, citing its growth potential. Danish Industry (DI), representing 19,000 firms, announced plans to open a representative office in Vietnam.

In a separate meeting, Chairwoman of the Danish Parliament’s Economic and Trade Committee Louise Schack Elholm highlighted the upcoming launch of a direct Hanoi–Copenhagen flight by Vietnam Airlines in December 2025 as a boost to trade, tourism and cultural exchange.

Dinh also met Copenhagen’s Lord Mayor Lars Weiss, where discussions focused on cooperation between the Danish capital and Vietnamese cities, including development of Hanoi’s Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park and Ho Chi Minh City’s planned International Financial Centre.

The Vietnamese leader urged Denmark, as EU Council President in the second half of 2025, to help push forward ratification of the EU–Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement and to address the European Commission’s “yellow card” on Vietnam’s seafood exports.

The visit concluded with meetings at the Vietnamese Embassy in Copenhagen and with representatives of the Vietnamese community in Denmark.
